Question

Elongation as a function of auxin concentration in subsets of the elongations zones of roots and shoots % maximum elongation

1. What is the auxin concentration in subsets of c and d of the elongation zone if the rate of elongation in roots is 40% of maximal when there is no directional stimulus?

2. What is the auxin concentration in region a given the conditions listed to the left of the figure? (70% elongation of either a or b, but you decide which)

3.The % elongation of either elongation zone represented by a or by b is 70%. What is the % elongation of the other side?

4. What is the auxin concentration in region b given the conditions listed to the left of the figure? (70% elongation of either a or b, but you decide which)

Answer #1

1) As per the given plot the auxin concentration in subsets of c and d of the elongation zone for the 40% rate of elongation in roots without a directional stimulus can be found as 24 Auxin Concentration units.

2)The auxin concentration in region a for 70% elongation of the maximal rate of root elongation is 6 Auxin concentration units.

3) The % elongation of either elongation zone represented by a or b is 70% and the elongation on the other side is 40% of the maximal elongation.

4)The auxin concentration in region b for 70% elongation of the maximal rate of root elongation is the same as a that is 6 Auxin concentration units.
