Keeping a good posture is important in maintain our physical health. Studies shows that there are many health benefits in keeping good posture. For example if we are able to keep a good posture by proper sitting, standing, walking or even lying down, that will considerably decreases the risk of abnormal wearing of joint surfaces. Also when we maintain a proper posture by keeping the normal angle in each position, there will be adequate blood flow and decreased muscle and ligament tension. But if we fail to keep a good posture, there will be an increased chance of muscle and ligament pain due to the improper coordination of these structures with abnormal angles in posture. Also there will be decreased blood flow due to minor occlusions with improper positioning which lead to easily fatigability and feeling of decreased energy caused by reduced oxygen supply to tissues. So if we maintain a good posture on a day to day basis, that will have a contributory effect which will be very helpful in having a good physical health and decreased disabilities in elderly life.
