Your T.A. has streaked wild type and ADP-6 Acinetobacter on media containing succinate and para-hydroxybenzoate as sole carbon sources. As you can see, both strains grow on media containing succinate but only wild type grows on media containing para-hydroxybenzoate. Why is this control important, If this control doesn’t work, would it be worth performing the experiment?
control is important and worth it. As it is providing lots of information, wild type do grow on succinate containing media and parahydrobezoate containing media too. ADP acetobacter would not able to grow on para hydroxy benzoate which act as bactericidal its action is linked to membrane. this experiment shows that wild type have not greater lipid solubility to disturb the lipid bilayer of membrane. But ADP acetobacter have greater lipid solubility to disturb the lipid bilayer.
If this control would not work, then we are not able to conclude that wild type and mutant type are different on the basis of their membrane.

2. Suppose you have six strains of E. coli. One is wild type, and each of the other five has a single one of the following mutations: lacZ, lacY, laď·0; and lach. For each of these six strains, describe the phenotype you would observe using the following assays. Explain your answers. [Notes: (1) IPTG is a colorless synthetic molecule that acts as an inducer of lac operon expression but cannot serve as a carbon source for bacterial growth because it...

10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
