Answer #1

1. In mitosis two daughter cells are formed which are identical in shape, size and characters because in mitosis no cross over takes place as a result no exchange of chromatin material,no recombination. So genetically the two cells are identical.

2. Homologous chromosomes are identical in shape, size and characters and one is of paternal in origin and another is maternal in origin. The loci of a genes is same in two homologous chromosomes of a partcular trait and the alleles are present in the correspondong loci at the same place.

3. The longitudinal halves of a chromosome which are united at the centromere are called chromatids. The chromatids are similar in having DNA as they replicate from the one DNA molecule.

6. By the end of meiosis I a d in the anaphase I the chromosomes are arranged on the equitorial plate in such a way that the centromeres are facing towards the poles and chromatids on the equitorial plate. The spindle fibers pull chromosomes towards their poles so that the chromosome number is reduced to half in anaphase I.
