Assume that a true breeding fly with vermillion eyes is mated to a true breeding fly that is crossveiless and has torn wings. The genes in question are located on an autosome and are recessive mutants. The resulting female is mated to a fly that has vermillion eyes and crossveinless and torn wings.   The number of offspring and the resulting phenotypes are provided.

To find the order of gene in a triple point cross there are following steps which should be follows.

1) Find the parental gene type from the following 8 types of progeny.

It can be found by observing the maximum type of progeny in the following generation as the genes here are showing linkage so the frequency of progeny with parental genotype will be maximum

2) Find the progeny with genotype having double cross over.

As the genes are linked so the number of progeny with genotype showing cross over will be less than parental genotype. Frequency of progeny with genotype having single cross over would be less than parental one and the frequency of progeny with genotype having double cross over will be less than the frequency of progeny with the single cross over.

3) Compare the genotype of parent and double crossing over and observe which one gene is not matching with the parent one the gene which will not match with the parent will remain in middle and the gene order will be written in alphabetical order until and unless other condition are given.

1) As the frequency of gene with vermillion eyes having wing of wild type and the gene with wild type eyes(580) and crossveinless and torn wings (592) are maximum so they contains the genotype as that of parent so can be symbolized as P2 and P1 respectively.

P1= Vct

P2 =vCT

2) The progeny having least frequency are wild type eye having crossveinless and wild type wings (5) and vermillion eye having wild type and torn wings (3), therefore this two type of genotype can be symbolized as DCO 1 and DCO 2 respectively.

DCO 1 = VcT

DCO 2 = vCt

3) Comparing P1 & DCO 1 and P2 & DCO 2 it is found that the gene "T" is not matching with the parental genotype in double crossing genotype. So gene "T" will be in the middle of the genotype while ordering.

So according to option, b. CTV will be right option
