Reason: The three domain system is a biological classification , in particular it emphasises the separation of prokaryotes into two grouos originally called Eubacteria (now bacteria) and Archaebacteria (Archaea) . The scientists argued thag on the basis of difference in 16 sr RNA genes, these 2 groups and the eukaryotes each arose separately from an ancestor with poorly developed genetic machinery often called progenote.
