Answer is POLYMERIZATION OF ACTIN PEPTIDES

Cell crawling takes place with the help of actin cytoskeleton which comprises of protein actin filaments and accessory proteins.

At one edge of the cells, actin peptides starts polymerizing which pushes the membrane outwards in a one particular area.The extended part of the membrane attaches to an external localized surface and shifts the entire cell in the direction of the growing end. Classic example of this phenomenon is Amoeba locomotion.
