Answer #1

1.Function cuticle:The primary function of cuticle is as water permeability barrier that prevents evaporation of water from the epidermal suface and also prevents external water and solutes from entering the tissue.

function of stomata:stomata allow plant to take in carbon dioxide ,which is needed for photosynthesis. They also help to reduce water loss by closing when conditions are hot and dry.

2.Because cuticle is important for the existence of the plant, which act as a barrier between cell and outside world and also stops exchange gas from happening.while stomata are small openings in the cell which allows gaseousexchange in plants. Also it prevents water and solutes from outside entering into the tissue.if there is not for stomata ,the water vapour would build up inside the leaf and the leaf would lyse.

3a.In duckweed only one side is submerged in water so it does not have stomata on its submerged part however its upper part is above the water surface which is the only side containing stomata.

In the Elodea ,it is totally submerged in water ,so there is no need of cuticle or stomata.

3.b.Duckweed provides habitat for micro invertibrates but if completely covers the surface of a pond for an extend period it will cause oxygen depletion.it also eliminates submerged plants by blockig sunlight.

Elodea is an important part in ecosystem.it provides good habitat for many aquatic invertibrates and cover for young fish and amphibians.it has also economic importance.

4.a. The stomatal density of the salal had almost 6x more stomata on the lower surface of the leaf while sculent having a 30 stomata per mm^2+/4..77-5.72 for each surace of the Aloe. The salal having 179.7 stomata per mm^2 +-30.91.

4b.succulent has fleshy tissue adapted to water storage.Stomata allows forthe uptake of ccarbon dioxide and oygen from the  environment.the stomata of succulent plant are closed during day and open at night. As a rsult ,the loss of water during the hot dry dy time hours is minimized and carbon dioxide uptake occurs in the dark.so it exihibit modified form of co2 fixation and photosynthesis called crassulacean acid metabolism.salal having 179.7 stomata per mm^2 +-30.91.it growing strongly from rhizome.it has leathery leaved shrub in healthier family.
