Option B
ABC transporters are ATP Binding Cassettes. These are integral membrane protiens located in the membrane and use ATP for transportation of molecules across the cell surface. The most important characteristic feature of these transport molecules is that they impart multidrug resistance to the cell on which they are present. In this process, they pump the drugs outside the cell. If these transporters are present on the surface of a bacterial membrane and the bacteria is a pathogen, then it is very difficult to kill the bacteria by using an antibiotic. This is because these Transporters pump these antibiotic molecules out of the bacterial cell and make it multidrug-resistant.
