Answer #2

SOLUTION :

Let $A be invested each month for 4 years to get $83000 at the end of the 4th year.

We assume the deposits are made at the end of each month.

Interest rate per month, r = 5.5/12 % = 5.5/1200

=> (1 + r) = 1 + 5.5/1200 = 1205.5/1200

Number of periods, n = 4 * 12 = 48 months.

So, FV of above annuity = A ((1 + r)^n - 1) / (r)

=> 83000 = A * ((1205.5/1200)^48 - 1) / (5.5/1200)

=> 83000 = A * 53.5528518

=> A = 83000/53.5528518

=> A = 1549.87 ($)

So, $1549.87 should be invested in the end of each month for 4 years to get $ 83000 at the end of 4th year. (ANSWER).
