The Global Bike Company (GBI) has been asked to donate Touring and Off-Road Bikes for a charity event in Paris, France in September 2020. The Board of Directors has endorsed their participation and John Davis and Peter Schwarz have promised the charity organization 10 custom designed Bikes in honor of the event, (5 Women’s Touring Bikes and 5 Men’s Off-Road Bikes). Answer 1) As the company is planning to donate 10 of its cycles to a charity organization in September, given the information that there are 2 production houses US and Germany production facilities and it involves integration of processes across many departments. So some work is carried in US and the other work is done in Germany. So as there are different processes I would like to bring in knowledge that distance from US to France is 7000+ kilometers whereas distance from Germany to France is only 1000 kilometers. So keeping this is mind I would like to do most of the work because as Germany is near so the cost of transportation will be less and less time will be taken to deliver the cycles.
1) Where production will take place: Production should take place in Germany only because its near to France and transportation cost will be lesser.
2) Component sourcing: sourcing must be done from US as US is the main base for the company and components produced in US are of fine quality
3) Warehousing and delivery: Warehousing should be done in France in order to expand the business and do timely delivery. With warehousing in France, the delivery will also be on time
