Answer #1

Answer: Option (2)

Since adding more variables eventually increases the degree of freedom in the numerator of the F statistic and F statistic will likely decreases as a result.

Too many variables in the regression model leads to the following problems.

The number of parameter estimated will be larger than the number of observations which means there is lack of degrees of freedom..

The independent variables will be too correlated

The f-statistic and Adjusted R squared also may not depict a true picture because of high degree of freedom.

For MATLAB 3. write a program to plot a scatter plot of data (x, y) pairs and compute the correlation coefficient. Data and details are provided below. In Lecture 9 it was noted that the numerator used in the sample variance could be obtained using the sum(x) and sum(x. 'x) functions: iz1 The average is sum(x)/n. If an array y of the same length is computed in the same way call that term Syy. The term Sxy can be computed...

Please answer all fill in the blanks, thanks! In the United States, tire tread depth is measured in 32nds of an inch. Car tires typically start out with 10/32 to 11/32 of an inch of tread depth. In most states, a tire is legally worn out when its tread depth reaches 2/32 of an inch. A random sample of four tires provides the following data on mileage and tread depth: Mileage (10,000 miles) Tread Depth (32nds of an inch) Tire...

Consider the relationship between hourly wage rate and education attainment. A random sample of 21 male workers was collected to estimate the following model Y; = Bo + B1X; + uj, for i = 1,..., 21. Here, Y; is the logarithm of hourly wage rate, log(wage), for the i-th worker. Xi is the education level, husedu, of the i-th worker, which is measured as the years of schooling, and uị is the error term for the i-th worker. The ordinary...

    1. (55 points) The investigators are interested in asses the relationship between Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) in mm Hg and Age in years among Hypertensive Patients. Specif- ically, whether a patient's SBP can be predicted from his or her age. They selected n=122 patients at random from a medical record database in a hospital. Assume that the simple linear regression model is appropriate. The following table shows regression output of a simple linear regression model relating the SBP to the...
