Answer #1

It is given than arrival rate lambda is 5 per day. It is required to find service rate.

5 per day

=??

If total repair time,W is 5 days, then the below should hold good

1 W

5 - 5

5μ-25Ξ1

26 5u= 5/4

26 = 5.2 5

0.1923 10 hours 1.923 hours Thus 0.1923 days 5.2

Hence average repair time is 1.923 hours or 1.923*60 = 115.38 minutes

    A manufacturer of plasma television estimates that the average family uses its television 2,000 hours per year. The exponentially distributed mean time to failure for these televisions has been estimated to be 15,00 hours. The company firmly believes it is important to provide a reasonable warranty period for the television it sells; however, it realizes it would not be economically viable to service any more than 2% of the units it sells. What would be an appropriate warranty period (...
