Yes it's a most likely cause. Congenital abnormalities can be caused due to many reasons. Even an infection can lead to abnormalities in the unborn baby. Viral infection to mother can seriously affect the fetus. Second and third trimester are the most crutial periods during the fetal development. The most of the organ development takes place at this time. So any kind of exposure can seriously affect the fetus. A viral infection is one of the dangerous exposure that a fetus can afford. During the third trimester when the mother is infected with virus it thereby interfere with the development of the baby. This congenital abnormality to the stomach may be caused by this.
