C.violifer hemoglobin has a lower P50

P50 represents the oxygen tension when hemoglobin is 50% saturated with oxygen

Vertebrate species native to higher altitudes have a lower P50 than their lowland counterparts. This adaptation facilitates uptake of O2 from hypoxic environment prevalent at higher altitudes.

As a result of lower P50, the Hb-O2 affinity decreases and more oxygen is dissociated from the hemoglobin and is available for uptake by the tissue.
