Illustrate all the locations where the molecule 8-ethyl deca-2, 4 diene could form hydrogen bonds with water either as a hydrogen donor or as a target (receiver) of hydrogen bonds from water. Do this by drawing bent water molecules as necessary and representing hydrogen bonds between water and the molecule using dashed lines. Be sure it is clear exactly which atoms on each molecule are involved in the hydrogen bonds.

If the molecule is not capable of forming hydrogen bonds with water explain why not.

Criteria for hydrogen bonding interaction between molecules: both the molecules should have hydrogen covalently bonded to one of the most electronegative negative atom( either F, N or O). These electronegative atoms make the hydrogen nearly a proton by abstracting te electron cloud from over the hydrogen atom and thus, accepts some electron cloud from other electronegative atoms to form hydrogen bonding interaction.

The molecule given doesn't have any such moeity( O-H, N-H not even F-H moeity). So it is not possible for this 8-ethyldeca-2,4-diene to form hydrogen bonding with water molecules. The only interaction possible is dipole dipole interaction and that too will be too weak. Thus this molecule would not be even soluble in water.
