Answer #1

u = 170km/ h = 170 × 5/18 = 47.2m/s

h= 370m

X= ut( a=0)

Y = uyt +1/2gt^2 = 0.5 gt^2 (uy=0)

370= 0.5 x 9.8 x t^2

t= 8.68s

X= 47.2 x 8.68 =410.2m

Vx= ux+at( put a=0) = 47.2

Vy= uy+ gt (put uy=0)= 9.8 x 8.68= 85.2

V = ( 47.2^2 + 85.2^2)^1/2= 97.36 m/s

    An emergency relief airplane is dropping a care package to people on a small island. The plane is flying with a velocity of v0 = 176 km/h at an altitude of h = 393 m. If the package must land on the island, at what horizontal distance D from the plane to the island should the package be dropped? Answer: 2. What is the magnitude of the final velocity of the package the instant before it hits the ground?

    (Figure 1)A relief airplane is delivering a food package to a group of people stranded on a very small island. The island is too small for the plane to land on, and the only way to deliver the package is by dropping it. The airplane flies horizontally with constant speed of 462 km/hour at an altitude of 575 m. The positive x and y directions are defined in the figure. For all parts, assume that the "island" refers to the...
