What do you predict will happen with ATP production in the long run? ATP will stop being produced. ATP will continue to be produced.Please help with this biochemistry question. the first half of the question was whether or not cyanide would affect oxygen consumption in cells. How would cyanide affect ATP? Wouldn't it decrease ATP produced?

During hypoxia, cells of an organism unable to use oxygen through the inhibition of the enzyme cytochrome c oxidase. This enzyme is an integral part of the mitochondrion. The mitochondrion is known as a powerhouse of the cell which generates energy in forms of ATP.

Cyanide is a chemical compound in which carbon atom triple-bonded to a nitrogen atom. Cyanide is considered to be toxic because it binds to cytochrome c oxidase. cytochrome c oxidase is the fourth complex in the electron transport chain. Binding of cyanide to cytochrome c oxidase blocks the further passage of electrons throughout the chain, halting ATP production. Since no ATP is made, the electron transport chain stops working.
