Answer #1

The studies on infectious diseases have shown that the parasite and the host both try to out do one another with time. So as the time goes on, there is evolution going on in the pathogen and also in the host organism. Besides, antibiotics that were discovered by scientists could control various bacterial diseases in those days. But excess usage of antibiotics has soon led to development of antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Once the bacteria develp resistance, they will not respond to the antibiotic and the disease can't be controlled. So here the bacteria are evolving and becoming more resistant.Resistance bacteria now are able to cause the disease as they can't be controlled.

So, the statement is not true. The infectious diseases can't be completely wiped out. Antibiotics can't control the diseases as the bacteria develop resistance. The pathogen is adapting to the chemical. The ones which are less susceptible will be selected with the antibiotics in the surroundings.SUch natural selection go on to make them completely adapted and cause the disease.

There is continuous adaptation of the pathogens to out do the host and aquiring resistance to the drugs as in case of antibiotics will not allow the humans to be completely free of infectious diseases.

Evolution is a continuous process occurring in all the organisms including the pathogens.
