4.3 Effect of diswashing liquid over the distribution of vegetable oil, will be that the dishwashing liquid will float over the vegetable oil. This will occur because of the reason that soap has lower density than oil and hence floats. Also, soap has hydrophobic or water fearing properties which causes them to repel away and it remains non miscible with the oil and floats above.

4.4 Washing the bird feathers with dilute dishwashing liquid is more efficient than washing it with plain water. The soap properties of the dishwashing liquid aids in better removal of the oil. Other methods are washing it with cold water and hot water.

4.5 A professional or volunteer may encounter problems such as contamination with the faecal remains of the bird.

4.6 Studies have stated that only a small population of birds whose feathers are cleaned survive, others dont. The reason to it is that the features are originally waterproof and meant to be so. The gland spreads oil in the feathers which helps in the everyday functioning of the bird. Cleaning off the oil is important, but not always the best option as birds perish due to exhaustion or even hypothermia.
