Point to note is that the numbers are 'in thousands of units', hence the range of the y-axis varies from 0 to 40,000.

Body temperature and height can't be the response variables (as they don't have values as said above). It might be income or balance on student loans, as both of these have the required matching figures (0 to 40,000).

Now time to see the graph. We see that for higher ages, the response variable is 0. What do you think would decrease with age : Income or Balance on student loans?

Balance on Student loans should be the response variable as age increases, income increases and hence, student loans get repaid and so the balance on loan goes to zero.

Ans : The response variable is Balance on student loans because you would expect this variable and age to have a negative correlation. (I can't see the options for the last blank)
