After reading Musical Chairs, find a friend or family member to answer the question – in fact, more than one partner is preferable. One rule: you may not speak and can only use one sheet of paper to solve the problem. For the solution, each student in the classroom must have a chair that accommodates their dominant writing hand. To add a technological dimension, you may choose to use Skype, Zoom, or another technology to perform this exercise with a classmate or person living away from you. Do not solve this problem independently, but with your partner(s). The goal is to experience communication without using normal speech. Post your reflection of the exercise.
The experience of communication without the use of normal speech is really special and enriching. It is surely not easy on first place and tends to take away most of our time and energy, it starts to kill us internally and makes us feel paranoid at times but the moment we begin to understand things, it starts to get just so much better for us. We develop another level of connect with the people around and there is strong bonding in this process. We start to understand the facial expressions for the words and this takes the level of communication to another level.
