I NEED A RESPONSE TO THE DISCUSSION BELOW.

Communication at home with family and friends differ from conversing with peers at school or associates at work in a few different ways. The discourse community you may belong to in a personal setting will not have the same consequences if you insult one of your friends in a group chat about who is the greatest quarterback in NFL history. In contrast to that, if you were to insult a co-worker or classmate you would most likely face some sort of discipline.

Communication is so unique and different that it could differ inside the particular discourse you belong to. For example, at home at a holiday family dinner, you would communicate differently to your mom than you would talk to your siblings or talk to your wife different than you would speak with your kids. The same would happen in an academic environment or professional setting at work. You may talk to your supervisors different than you would talk to your peers at work. Same to be said in a classroom setting one would talk to their professor different than you would talk to your academic peers.

At Work you may be taught a particular language that you would only speak at work and no one else outside of work would understand. In my line of work which is an electric utility, I often have catch myself at home when talking to my wife as I were talking to a co worker in a substation. That language is spoken to communicate in an electrical substation world. The communication is very serious because of the safety involved in an substation. In any personal situation the communication would never be so serious. The main difference of communication would be the seriousness of the dialog between a coworker than that of a friend or family member.

Answer #1

I would definitely agree with the discussion about different style of communication with a co-worker or fellow student than that with your family member or closed ones. This is because a person feels at ease and is more relaxed when talking to a family member or siblings. He or she does not have any pressure of saying anything wrong and also faces less backlash if any inappropriate communication happens. However in a professional environment, a person has to be more careful and aware of what he says or does because you have to maintain some sort of respect and humbleness towards your colleagues or fellow classmates. If you fail to do that, there is severe backlash that could be faced by that person. These are societal norms which a person has to abide by while communicating with others.
