Magnesium isotopes:

24; 25; 26

MW average = x24*MW24 + x25*MW25 + x26*MW26

MW average = 24.31; then

MW24 = 24; MW = 25, MW = 26

24.31 = x24*24+ x25*25+ x26*26

then

x24 >> X25 + x26

therefore, the most abundant isotope = 24
