Describe the two major considerations when designing the user interface for browser-based systems. Explain the difference between a flat menu design and a deep menu design.
ANSWERS:
1. Two major considerations when designing the user interface for browser-based systems
a) Every aspect of the user interface must be transmitted over the internet.
b) All of the pages and every aspect of the interface must be compatible with all of the possible browsers.
2.Difference between a Flat Menu Design and Deep Menu Design
Fat Menu Design :
A hierarchy that has relatively more secondary sites reporting to the central site than it has primary sites with child sites reporting to a central site. This type of hierarchy has three or less tiers , with many site servers in the upper tiers.
Deep menu Design :
A multitiered hierarchy made up of a chid primary sites with a small number of secondary sites reporting directly to each primary site. A deep hierarchy usually has three or more tiers, with fewer site servers at each tier. The more tiers and the fewer chid sites in your hierarchy, the deeper it is. Usually, sites in a deep hierarchy are larger sites.
