1. Cervical vertebrae are smaller in size when compared to thoracic and lumbar vertebrae.

2. Shape of vertebral foramen is Triangular.

3. Spinnous processes of C3 to C6 vertebra shorter and Bifid.

4. Spinous process of C7 vertebra is longer and singular (not bifid), Hence C7 vertebra is known as vertebra prominens because the spinous process of C7 vertebrae is felt in the midline posteriorly as prominent mark at the base of the neck.
