Answer #1

Ans)4 Lateral diffusion is more common in membrane lipids. This is because during flip flop more energy is needed to do that process means it is energy demanding process as a polar head group has to travel through the non polar region of the memberane which is highly energy demanding process during flip flop.

Ans) Since saturated fatty acid as more melting point than the unsaturated fatty acid.So stearic acid has more melting point than linoelaldic acid becuase stearic is saturated (no double bond). This is due the region that unsaturated fatty acid donot pack tightly in their structure so less amount of energy is needed to separate them so less melting point.

QUESTION 25 Lipids have been shown to move in the membrane. Which statement most accurately describes this movement? Lateral movement of lipids within the same leaflet of the membrane occurs, but is less common, and flip-flop of lipids to the opposite leaflet of the membrane is common Both lateral movement of lipids within the same leaflet of the membrane and flip-flop of lipids to the opposite leaflet of the membrane occur commonly.
