Answer #1

22. ANS: The body has three primary types of capillaries: continuous capillaries, fenestrated capillaries, and discontinuous capillaries (sinusoids).

1. Continuous capillaries:

Structure: endothelial cells provide an uninterrupted lining

Function: allow only smaller molecules such as water and ions to pass through

Organs: skeletal muscles, goads, skin (numerous transport vesicles) central nervous system ( few vesicles)

2. Fenestrated capillaries

Structure: have pores in the endothelial cells. (60 to 80 nm) spanned by diaphragm

Function: allow only small molecules and limited amount of protein to diffuse

Location: renal glomerulus ( no diaphragm, instead podocytes foot process ), endocrine glands, intestines and pancreas

3. Sinusoidal capillaries

Structure: discontinuous capillaries, special type of open pore capillary, have larger openings ( 30 to 40 um) in the endothelium. Discontinuous basal lamina

Function : allow red and white blood cells and various serum proteins to pass

Location : liver ,spleen, bone marrow, lymph nodes and adrenal glands.

So the correct options are:

skeletal muscles: Continuous capillaries

Brain: Fenestrated capillaries

Spleen: Sinusoidal capillaries
