Answer #1

Borontrifluoride reacts with dimethyl sulphide and forms borontrifluoride methylsulphide complex.

There exists a co-ordinate covalent bond(dative bond) between Sulphur atom of dimethyl sulphide and Boron atom of boron trifluoride.

In co-ordinate covalent bond the shared two electrons between the atoms are donated by only one atom, then the two electrons are shared by both donar and acceptor atoms.

It is a 2-centre,2-electron covalent bond.

It is as shown below:

Acceptor on

As sulphur is having two lone pair of electrons it acts as a donor atom.

In BF3 boron has (only 6 electrons) incomplete octet, hence to attain octet configuration for boron

sulphur donates the one lone pair of electrons and then they both are shared equally between the two atoms sulphur and boron.
