1.three important classes of pattern regulating genes specify the anterior and posterior axis maternal effect genes, segmentation genes, homeotic genes.But the most important among these is Maternal effect genes.

Gene involved are bicoid and hunchback for anterior segment. Bicoid is also known as cordinate gene responsible for polarity.

Nanos and caudal for the posterior part.

2.zona pellucida.

3.After the switch from the maternal to zygotic genes, the drosphila starts synthesizing its own genes at drosophila blastoderm.

4.syncytial blastoderm.
