Stability: least stable is 3, followed by 1 and 2, respectively.

The first one in the above figure is the thymine-adenine pair and the second one is a cytosine-guanine pair. The third one is cytosine paired with adenine, which does not exist, and thus is the least stable

If we see the diagram above, we can clearly see that the G-C pair has 3 hydrogen bonds, while the A-T pair has only 2. Therefore, due to the presence of three hydrogen bonds the G-C pairing is more stable than A-T pairing which contains only two hydrogen bonds
