1. Define, explain and illustrate graphically as appropriate the following:

a. What is a distance-time diagram?

b. Illustrate in detail plotting distance on the y-axis and time on the x-axis the operating regimes of six vehicles. Use the following information for your diagram.

- At time zero, vehicles 1, 2, 3, and 4 are at respective distances d1, d2, d3, and d4 from a reference point whereas vehicles 5 and 6 cross the reference point later at times t5 and t6, respectively.

- The gradient for vehicles 1 and 2 are different.

- Vehicle 4 operates at different three slopes of m1, m2, and m3.

- Vehicles 3 and 5 stopped at one bus stop each to pick and discharge passengers.

c. Explain two possible reason(s) for the differences in slopes between vehicles 1 and 2.

d. Explain three operational factors responsible for Vehicle 4 operating at different regimes.
