Answer #1

Answer. System development: refers to a series of process or activities which consist of system analysis, modeling design, implementation, testing, and maintenance in order to produce information systems solution.

Object-oriented System Development: Object-oriented refers to where software is the collection of various discrete objects and it emphasizes its philosophy by allocating tasks.

UML: Unified Modeling Language refer to standard language to express the design of system architecture.

Here is what I believe:

  • Object-orientation provides a higher level of abstraction to system development. Since, an object encapsulates both attributes and methods which leads to designing, coding, testing, & maintaining the system in a simpler way.
  • The objective of UML is to use common terms of object-oriented and express in a diagramming technique which leads to a system development project
  • In the object-oriented, the routines and attributes within a class are well-managed, they are grouped together but remain independent. Thus, this leads there impact is minimized.
  • As UML can also helps in modelling of business process and constructing a use-case model for Object-Oriented Analysis. Software architecture is necessary for the system and UML is a well-known visual language

Here is why I believe:

  • In the object-oriented approach, programs are well-organized and well-defined
  • Objects promote reusability within a class and their functionality remains constant or unaffected.
  • UML is extensible and scalable. Because it is known to be a set of specifications that are created by Object Management Group.
  • UML models are portable.

Rebuttal:

  • UML is not one of the Development lifecycle strategies. SDLC can perfectly work even without UML
  • UML is not specific to any programming paradigm or software process.
  • UML is known to be complex as it has 14 different types of diagrams.
  • In some situation or scenario, UML is not required to communicate their designs. A software developer is known to be formal at the code level.
