The order of magnitude by which a protease catalyze the rate of water breakage (hydrolysis) of a peptide backbone is 10^-3 seconds or milliseconds. This magnitude causes difference in protein turnover value. Protease cleaves proteins and regulate other proteins by proteolytic cleavage. Breaking of peptide bond is a very slow process as it involves tge resonance of C- N bond which makes it harder to break, but this process is thermodynamically processed. So the degree by which bonds are broken depicts the productivity of the reaction.
