"My evidence comes from the gold foil experiment conducted by Rutherford. The book discusses this slightly describing that through this experiment we were able to see that particles scatter, but one part of the particle contains most of the mass of the atom. I continued to do research on this evidence and found a more detailed description of what the experiment was from chemteacher.org. This website explains how Rutherford set up the experiment with a gold foil sheet and shooting alpha particles at it. When the particles hit some of it went through the golf foil and set off a "flash" the rest was scattered at a "90 degree range"(chemteacher.org)."
