A Fatty Acid Monolayer Calculations
The number of drops per mL (drops/mL) can be calculated from thre measured number of drops per gram of Hexane (drops/g), using the density of Hexane (0.659 g/mL) as a conversion factor from grams to mL. Calculate this using the following information.
Area(A)=1.227*10^16
Concentration of Stearic Acid/Hexane Solution: 7.01* 10^-5
Mass of weighing bottle with lid= 18.028g Mass of weighing bottle, lid and solution= 18.463 Solution Mass: 0.435
I'm getting mL per drop, and can't figure out how to get back to drops per mL.
solution mass = .435 g
conc = 7.01 * 10^-5 M
this means 1 liter sol contain
7.01*10^-5 * 86 = .006 g
so density of solution = 1gm/cm^3 because of very low conc of hexane
so .432 g = .435 ml solution
so you get .435 ml per drop
so 1 drop = 1/.435 ml = 2.26 ml

A calibrated pipet (95 drops/mL) delivers 12 drops of stearic acid solution. (1.5x10^-4 g/mL) to give a monolayer with a diameter of 12.5 cm. Calculate the surface area of tge monolayer, the moles of stearic acid (284 g/mol) in the monolayer, the number of stearic acid molecules in the monolayer, and the apparent volume & cross-sectional area occupied by each molecule.
Esay recorded the following data for Avogadro's number experiment. He concluded that the average calibration number of drops from dropper per mL is seventy-seven. Next, Esay determined it took twelve drops of stearic acid solution to form the monolayer. Density of stearic acid = 0, 85 g/mL Concentration of stearic acid solution= 1.42 times 10^-4 g/mL Diameter of the vessel 14.5 cm Molar mass of stearic acid = 284 g.mol a. 1. The stearic acid/hexane solution contains 0.1 g of stearic acid per 1 mL of solution. What is the molarity of this solution?
Part A Part complete Using your graduated cylinder, you calibrate the pipet you will be using and the values you collect are as follow. What is the average number of drops per mL of benzene. 21 drops 22 drops 17 drops 20.0 drops Part B Part complete After calibration, you use the oleic acid/benzene solution to form a monolayer. It takes 8 drops , 9 drops and 6 drops before the layer on the water solution starts to make a bubble tha...
Part A) Using your graduated cylinder, you calibrate the pipet you will be using and the values you collect are as follow. What is the average number of drops per mL of benzene. 21 drops 20 drops 17 drops Answer: 19.3 drops Part B) After calibration, you use the oleic acid/benzene solution to form a monolayer. It takes 8 drops , 9 drops and 8 drops before the layer on the water solution starts to make a bubble tha does not go...
plz both with explanation Problems: 1. A student adds 25 drops of cetyl alcohol in hexane, (solution concentration 1.08 x I0 g/mL) to form a monolayer of the alcohol on the surface of water in a Petri dish with an 4 area of 241 cm2 The cetyl alcohol molecules are cylindrical with the diameter of the cylinder equal to one fifth of the length. Assume the long axis of the cylinder is perpendicular to the water surface. The medicine dropper...
I Need the pre-lab Questions, please An Alka-Seltzer tablet consists of NaHCOs (sodium bicarbonate), citric acid (H3C&HsO; citric acid is triprotic), aspirin and other inert ingredients. When dissolved in water, citric acid and NaHCO3 components react as follows: In the first part of the experiment, we will determine the mass of NaHCO in a tablet of Alka Seltzer. To do this, we will use a known mass of a powdered sample of Alka-Seltzer and determine the mass of CO2 gas...

my starting reaction weight for 3-nitrophthalic acid is 6.65 g 2. (12 pts/1 pt per box) Determine the mmol as well as the mass or volume of each reagent that would be required if the reaction was performed starting with a mass of 3-nitrophtalic acid equal to your UIN number divided by 108 (ex. 678459876/108 = 6.78 g of 3-nitrophtalic acid (98% purity)). Using your mass of 3-nitrophthalic acid and the new equivalent values, determine what quantities of reactants and...
I'm not sure about how I'm supposed to find NaOH concentration from a strong acid and strong base titration. I'm thinking that 2.5×10^-8 mol per L that I calculated would make the moles of NaOH 2.5x10^-8 mol since it's a one to one ratio.
