Triethylamine. (CH3CH2)3N, is commonly used in many synthetic organic chemistry applications. Consider the possibilities of both Brønsted-Lowry and Lewis acid/base behavior. Based on the chemical structure in the diagram, how would this molecule be predicted to behave in aqueous solution?

Ans ans is weak base

As all amines behave as Lewis base as they have lone pair available on Nitrogen for donation and show Lewis base character

And also bronsted base by accepting proton H+

R3N: + H+ ====>> (R3NH)+

So showed both Lewis base by donating lone pait to H+ and also accepted H+

But as diagram show there is large steric hinderence around Nitrogen due to carbon chain so donation becomes difficult making it weak base
