Question

* A quality characteristic has a design specification (in cm) of 0.200 ± 0.020. If the actual process value of the quality characteristic is at the boundary of the tolerance on either side, the product will require a repair of $30 Find the value of k, and state the Taguchi loss function. Answer #1

The Taguchi loss function is:-

L(x)=k(x-T)2

30=k(0.02)2

K=75000

The Taguchi loss function is:-

L(x)=75000(x-0.2)2

The loss associated with x=0.205

L(0.205)=75000(0.205-0.2)2

L=1.875

    Assignment i Help Save & Ext Sub The desired distance for Flextronchip customers is 0.6 mm between two adjacent pins. Any deviation from this value causes interference. The process of handling complaints costs the firm at approximately $40.00 per chip. The engineers of the firm expect the average customer will be likely to complain when the distance is off target by at least 0.0002 mm. At the factory, the adjustment can be made at a cost of $1.60, which includes...

    .INTRODUCTION In the era of vicious competition, where customer is a king, organizations can only succeed if they are able to cater the changing demands of the customers. While catering to these diverse demands; manufacturing costs and product lead time to launch the product to market must be minimized and delivering better performance for the product or service than the existing competitors in the market is of utmost importance (Surange, 2015). Hence if one has to survive the recession on...

    The trend toward fair value accounting By J Russell Madray, CPA The Debate Critics contend that GAAP is seriously flawed. Some in the accounting profession go so far as to pronounce financial statements almost completely irrelevant to the financial analyst community. The fact that the market value of publicly traded firms on the New York Stock Exchange is an average of five times their asset values serves to highlight this deficiency. Many reformers, including FASB chairman Robert Herz, believe that...

    Problem Set 2: Inheritance and Method Overriding The goal of this problem set is to apply inheritance and method overriding in order to create a hierarchy of array sorters. There exist many algorithms to sort arrays. In this problem set, we are especially interested in “in-place” sorting algorithms like Selection Sort and Insertion Sort. In-place sorting refers to an approach in which we perform the sorting steps on the underlying array rather than using extra storage. When using object-oriented design,...
