A car manufacturer wants to install air conditioners in their cars, they must not be defective, so the car manufacturer will test each unit as it arrives - assume the units arrive randomly and that the probability that the unit will fail is 7%, and units fail independently of each other. Suppose the car manufacturer has an order of 10 cars today, which it intends to complete. We will move this scenario using a negative binomial distribution. In order to calculate the following possibility that the manufacturer will have to test fewer than 12 units in order to complete the order for card would require using the following parameters in the Excel formula for calculating a negative Binomial distribution

Answer #1

Here manufacture will end in 10 or 11 units. for 10 unit the value for parameters are

X = 0 ( number of failure)

S= 10 ( number of success)

P= 0.93 ( probability of success)

Cumulative = TRUE ( for pmf)

and for 11 units

X = 1 ( number of failure)

S= 10 ( number of success)

P= 0.93 ( probability of success)

Cumulative = TRUE ( for pmf)

In excel calculate use these values.
