(a) According to the question, phenotype is recessive & gene for that phenotype is present in the Z chromosome is
In order to develop the recessive phenotype in ZZ individuals, two Z chromosomes must contain the responsible gene that develops the recessive phenotype.
If only one Z chromosome contains the recessive gene & other contains gene responsible for dominate phenotype, then ZZ individuals will show dominate phenotype because dominate characteristic will override the recessive one. But ZW individuals have only one Z chromosome & if it contains the recessives gene, the individuals will show the recessive phenotype.
Thus, a lizard with ZW genotype has greater probability to express the recessive phenotype compare to the ZZ genotype due to the fact that there is lower chance that both Z chromosomes of ZZ individuals will contain the recessive gene compare to the single Z chromosome of ZW genotype.

Read each question carefully. Write your response in the space provided for each part of each question. Answers must be written out in paragraph form. Outlines, bulleted lists, or diagrams alone are not acceptable and will not be scored. The sex of an organism is typically determined genetically, but environmental factors can also play a role. Scientists examined the roles of genes and environmental temperature in the sex determination of a lizard species. Individuals with aZW pair of chromosomes are always...
AP Question 4 In the tongue sole fish (Cynoglossus semilaevis), sex is determined by a combination of genetics and environmental temperature. Genetically male fish have two Z chromosomes (ZZ), and genetically female fish have one Z chromosome and one W chromosome (ZW). When fish are raised at 22°C, ZZ fish develop into phenotypic males and ZW fish develop into phenotypic females. However, when fish are raised at 28°C, the Z chromosome is modified (denoted as Z*). Z*W individuals develop as...

need help with this .. From the pages 571-587 attached below. 1a) Suppose a population of guppies was infected with a parasite. In that population a mutation results in a parasite resistant genotype that spreads through the population through natural selection. A subsequent mutation in the parasite results in a genotype that is unaffected by the newly evolved resistant guppy genotype. What is the name of the hypothesis that explains this host parasite “arms race”.? 1b) What is this name...
