A linear programming approach should only be used the management is sure for that they can be model of all the common constraints of the model as linear functions. Here, I agree that a linear programming approach only can be used if all constraints can be fit in to linear functions.

Explanation:-

  • Linear programming model is a model in which one function is objective which is to be maximized (max) or minimized (min).
  • The purpose of function is always subject to constraints i.e., restrictions of sources.
  • The constraints must be in the form of linear inequalities.
  • Linearity is must for all functions in LPP as in LPP approach we draw graphs of all linear functions and set the corner points to check max and min arrangement of variables.
  • Hence, this is a sufficient and necessary criterion for using Linear programming approach for linear functions.
