We know that aspirin is a drug. It is otherwise known as acetyl salicylic acid.

The neutral form of aspirin undergoes protonation to become it's ionic form. The reaction can be written as:

C6H4OCOCH3COOH + OH− -----> C6H4OCOCH3COO− + H2O
