The manuscript entitled “Amphotericin primarily kills human cells by binding and extracting cholesterol” was submitted to PNAS was retracted for the following reasons

Matthew Endo, a former graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign falsified the data. The drug preparations he had was a mixture and not pure but he claimed it to be a pure drug preparation.

In addition, he also lied about the no. of repetition for his experiments.

The manuscript was not published it was submitted to the journal and was retracted before peer review.
