Answer #1

Answer

let x and y be the number of beer and wine sold

according to question, we have the following equation

total drinks sold was 72, so x + y = 72

or x = 72 - y ...................equation 1

and

7x + 10y = 663

setting x value from equation 1 in the above equation, we get

7(72-y) + 10y =663

504 - 7y +10y = 663

504 +3y = 663

subtracting 504 on each side, we get

3y = 663-504

or 3y =. 159

dividing by 3, we get

y = 159/3 =. 53 wines

and this gives x = 72-53 = 19 beers

So, 19 beers and 53 wines were sold
