Answer #1

Ans: e. Both a and b.

1. It is a purely genetic disorder .

2. The motor symptoms of Huntington disease are the result of specific degeneration of upper motor neurons.

Huntington's disease is an inherited disorder that caused the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain, specifically the basal ganglia and cerebral cortex. They are thought to be responsible for the movement and the way we think, comprehend and retain information.

Huntington's disease is known to be caused by faulty genes. It is cause by a mutations on the fourth of the 23 chromosomes.

In huntington's there is a mutation in HTT gene,.which codes for the protein huntingtin. The exact function of protein is unknown, however ,it appears to play an important role in nerve cells in brain .yhe mutation cquse CAG trinucleotide to repeat that can lead to loss of neuron in striatum and cortex. The roles of protein huntingtin include protein trafficking, transporting vesicles and postsynaptic signalling among others. Due to loss of neurons, the normal protein loses and gains a toxic function of Huntingtin, which contributes to disruption of several intracellular pathways.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a late-onset fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. The disease is caused by an autosomal dominant mutation whereby an expansion of a CAG trinucleotide repeat is observed in the gene Huntingtin (HTT. Where normal individuals have up to 35 copies of the triplet, individuals with repeat regions containing more than 35 repeats are susceptible to HD, and all disease alleles with 42 or more repeats are completely penetrant....
