Generally all the s and p block elements are main group elements.

Some scientists believe that H (hydrogen) is not a part of main group elements.

Because the given lewis structure has 8 valence electrons.

So, it will have 8 valence electrons when it belongs to period 5. This is because number of valence electrons depend upon the group to which element is present not upon the periods.

The given element belongs to 18 group & we know all the elements of group 18 have 8 valence electrons & it doesn't matter to which period it belongs.

Hence, if this element in period 5, its valence electronic configuration is 8.
