A steel tube of 25 mm OD is to be adhesively joined to another steel tube of 25 mm ID, using an adhesive. The assembly will operate at room temperature and an axial load of 12 kN will have to be supported. Using a safety factor of two:

a) calculate the minimum length of the lap joint (i.e. depth of overlap of the tubes) to achieve this strength requirement if epoxy is used.
