Quadruple bonds are always higher in energy

This type of bonding shows that there are two sets of paired electrons in the sigma system... according to the order, one must be bonded and the other must be anti bonded.

There are also two sets of paired electrons in π-bonding orbitals. Those are the ones providing the "rigid" strucutre in the bonding.

Note that

Triple bonds in C-C and N-N are mostly 1 sigma bond + 2 pi bonds. They arealso rigid in taht they are linear and will break easier than the quadruple bond which contains higher energy overlaps
