3. A confused flying bird rounds a horizontal circular path. In 24s it completes 3 turns. The radius of the path is observed to be r 12m. acceleration. a) Find the birds speed. b) Find the magnitude of the centripetal (2 pts.) 4. How large must the coefficient of static friction be between the tires and road, if a car rounds a level curve of radius 85 m at a speed of 23.5 m/s? (1 pt.) 0.8 m. If 5. A ball at end of a string is revolved a vertical circle of radius in the m/s and its mass is 0.5 k its speed at the bottom is 8.0 a) Calculate the tension in the string when the ball is at the bottom. b) If the tension at the top is found to be 0.5N, find the speed at the top (2 pts.)

Answer #2

SOLUTION :

Only one question is answered as per rule of Chegg’s :

Q3.

3 turns in 24 sec.

=> 1 turn in 8 sec.

Distance covered in 1 turn in 8 sec. = 2 * pi * r  = 2 * pi * 12 = 75.4 m

So,

Bird’s speed = distance/time = 75.4/8 = 9.4248 = 9.42 m/s (ANSWER).

Centripetal acceleration magnitude = v^2/r = (9.4248)^2/12 = 7.40 m/s^2 (ANSWER).
