Yes, dopamine deficiency can cause epilepsy.

There are two subtypes of dopamine receptors - dopamine receptors subtype 1 and 2

D1 receptor is known to be a pro-epileptogenic means it enhances epilepsy whereas D2 receptor is anti-epileptogenic means it is protective for epilepsy.

It is the increased levels of dopamine 1 receptors and decreased levels of dopamine 2 receptors which can cause epilesy, via altered pathways.

Other problems caused by dopamine deficiency are - Parkinson's disease, anhedonia and depression.
